Teen’s death confirmed by DNA results

The Buthelezi family said it had finally found closure and hoped the justice system would not fail them.

DNA results released by the Forensic Department have confirmed the death of Cebisile Buthlezi (15).

Since a set of dismembered and burned remains were found at Damman Farm, in the vicinity of Donald McHardy Dam, it has been speculated these remains were those of the teenager.

The Buthelezi family said it had finally found closure and hoped the justice system would not fail them.

“We are glad that the results are back and we can finally lay Cebisile to rest,” said Zanele Buthelezi, a family member.

The man accused of killing Cebisile, Bongumusa Mncube will appear in the Glencoe Magistrate’s Court again on January 21. Cebisile’s funeral takes place on Saturday at her home in Sithembile.
