Time to reflect on the miracle of Christmas

God still wants to bless you this Christmas, the anniversary of the day Jesus was born.

Christmas remains a miracle.

Perhaps it is time for us to reflect on this miracle: God coming to earth in the shape of a baby, so you and I can share in Him; so that our sins may be wiped out and we be His children. The wonder of the Holy God, who declares His love for children in a visible way with a gift still as relevant as it was over 2 000 years ago when Jesus was born.

Unfortunately during the Christmas season, many of us are so blinded by the ‘wonders’ in the shop windows that the real wonder often passes us by. We focus on physical gifts which are becoming more expensive by the year, advertised ideas ranging from hundreds to thousands of Rand.

Let’s be less market-minded this year and rather give more to those who have much less than us. After all, the birth of Jesus at that time illustrated simplicity. The people who first heard about it were simple shepherds. They found God’s Son in a stable, lying in a manger.

God still wants to bless you this Christmas, the anniversary of the day Jesus was born. The least we can do is to do the same to other people.

May the goodness of God surprise you. Have a blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
