Taxi and bus collide in Ladysmith CBD, leaving 1 dead and 13 injured

A taxi and a bus collided earlier this morning (December 24) near the traffic lights in Harrismith Road.

The front end of the taxi was completely crumpled due to the impact.

A passenger in the front seat of the taxi was killed and the jaws-of-life had to be used to free the lifeless body from the wreckage.

A further 13 other people were injured, with three of them sustaining serious injuries.

The injured were stabilised at the scene before being taken to hospital for further medical treatment.

Another serious motor vehicle accident involving a taxi and a truck on the N3 near the Tugela River left eight people injured.
