Runners work up a sweat for the holidays

After the parkrun, a warm breakfast and cup of coffee capped off the morning.

Braving the icy wind, runners and walkers gathered at Grey Goose Game Lodge for the weekly parkrun, aiming to work up a sweat for the holidays. With more than 60 runners who participated on December 14, spirits were as high as ever.

“It is always so wonderful to see people come through to the parkrun to keep fit and healthy, and with the festive season upon us, what better way to ensure your health is kept at its peak,” said a parkrun volunteer.

Runners enjoyed a day in near perfect running conditions, buoyed by a sense of unity. Despite cold conditions which rolled into town later in the morning, it did not put a stop to the determined runners old and young alike, who took on the five kilometre scenic route with great enthusiasm.

Afterwards, a warm breakfast and cup of coffee capped off the morning. Parkrun volunteers urge the community of Newcastle to continue to take part over the festive season, so they can go into 2020 as strong as ever!
