MUST READ: Road safety tips for the festive season
Travel safer this festive season with these easy tips.
If you’re planning to travel this festive season, ensure your vehicle is road ready before, during and travelling back home.
Here are tips to help you along the way:
- Always obey the rules of the road.
- Don’t get behind the wheel when intoxicated.
- Wear seatbelts whether you’re a driver or a passenger in the front or back seats.
- Drive at the speed limit and at a safe following distance.
- Drive at a speed which will allow you time and space to respond to emergencies (i.e. another vehicle coming to a sudden stop in front of you).
- Do not assume safety – stay alert and avoid distraction.
- Do not assume others are driving safely – anticipate hazards and stay alert.
- Approach and proceed across intersections with caution – never forget to look both ways.
- Do not drive when you’re feeling tired and/or fatigued.
- Keep your vehicle in roadworthy condition.
- Only overtake when it is absolutely safe to do so.
- Share the roads responsibly and safely.
