What will festive season service delivery bring?

Will it be another festive season of pothole-ravaged roads, blocked gutters that overflow when it rains and overgrown grass verges?

Unfortunately Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality could not provide an answer about its festive season plan of action for service delivery by the required deadline for this article.

The Estcourt News asked several questions about the repair and maintenance relating to the service delivery complaints that are prevalent.

Despite the municipal manager Patrick Mkhize saying that pothole patching will begin on November 5, no tangible proof can be seen.

With the recent rain, streets with blocked gutters are seeing flooding, like in the case of Alfred Street. Grass verges are starting to creep skyward and yet there is no sign of municipal staff trimming the verges.

The maintenance and cleanliness of public spaces was also queried about, as dozens of people flock to recreational areas, which are often marred by long grass and overflowing bins.

Will refuse collection days be affected by the public holidays? The municipality was also asked about the dates the office will be closed.
