Toys for Joy campaign spreads Christmas cheer

The team spent quality time with the children; interacting, singing songs and making them feel special

The Toys for Joy distribution on Tuesday and Wednesday this week was a huge success, and definitely put smiles on many children’s faces. Victory Haven was visited on Tuesday (December 17) and Môrester Children’s Home on Wednesday (December 18).

Year after year, for the past 11 years, the Toys for Joy team has managed to brighten up the festive season for more and more families in the form of food parcels and gifts for children.

Toys for Joy is all about bringing a twinkle to the eye and lightness to the heart…

This year, the Ladysmith Gazette team – together with NTT Nissan, Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa, KFC, McDonald’s and Sharaj Ambulance Services – handed out toys, food and goodie bags to children at the two homes mentioned above.

Special thanks also to Glasfit and AJ Charnaud for their contribution to the drive this year.

After the visits on Tuesday and Wednesday evening, the convoy of vehicles weaved through the streets, belting out Christmas songs such as ‘Jingle Bells’ while handing out sweetie packs to children who came out of their homes to see what all the commotion was about.

It was all in the name of spreading Christmas cheer for a good cause.
