AbaQulusi is set to benefit from President, Cyril Ramaphosa’s District Development Model (DDM).

Speaking to the Vryheid Herald after the Mzala Nxumalo Region Cadre’s Forum, hosted by the African National Congress, Deputy Chairperson of the ANC, Mike Mabuyakhulu said the President’s plan was to visit Vryheid and equip it with DDM, despite it not hitting local shores yet.

“This is one of the regions which falls under one of the important districts in the province, the Zululand District, because tourism, agriculture and mining are the major contributors in this area”, said Mabuyakhulu.
DDM was launched by the President recently, with an aim to ensure integrated planning, budgeting and development from all three spheres of government.

This translated to each district plan ensuring national priorities such as economic growth and employment, improvement of living conditions, the fight against crime and corruption and education outcomes were attended to in the locality concerned.

“We need to ensure we empower small businesses and luck comes to those who are ready and prepared. Small business owners must come together and organise themselves, and ensure they have business plans to help them move forward”, added Mabuyakhulu.

President Ramaphosa was due to address residents at Cecil Emmett Park on Sunday afternoon.
However, he did not arrive due to there being ‘too much wind’ and his flight not being able to land.
Provincial Chairperson of the ANC, Sihle Zikalala instead addressed the community together with Mabuyakhulu.
