SA car owners can now renew their licence disks via WhatsApp
According to Infobip, the service is available to all South Africans who have WhatsApp installed on their smartphones.
South African vehicle owners can save time and avoid long queues when renewing their licence disks using Infobip’s ‘Chatback’ function on WhatsApp. Here’s what you need to know.
“Everyone uses WhatsApp. If you can have single destination overtime where you can take care of services conveniently, we believe that’s the future,” said CEO of Chatback, Johan Kotzé, during a CapeTalk radio interview.
It is no wonder that Infobip has taken advantage of these functions to create a Chatback service that allows South African drivers to renew their licence disks on WhatsApp.
According to Infobip, the service is available to all South Africans who have WhatsApp installed on their smartphones. Craig Greenwood Selby, Infobip’s MD in South Africa, told Businesstech that this service has already had a great impact on South Africans.
“We see many use cases for WhatsApp Business API, but we are always on the lookout for those that are special and can change people’s lives.
“ChatBack will also add many more services that can conveniently be used via WhatsApp,” said Kotzé.
How does the service work?
When it’s time to renew your licence disk, click here on your WhatsApp to start the process. You can also go to the ChatBack website, or add ChatBack (+27 66 202 6685) as your contact and then text “renew” over WhatsApp to get started. The service is currently available in Gauteng and parts of the Western Cape.
How to get started:
Chatback will also send you a reminder when your vehicle licence is due for renewal again. You can also reply with “help” if you need any assistance on the app. In some instances, they might require you to submit your vehicle tare weight and licence expiry date.
