Drakensberg Boys Choir executive head and wife attacked on school property

Trauma counselling is being provided to both the Brooks family and school staff

The executive head of the Drakensberg Boys Choir School and his wife were injured in an armed robbery at their home in the Drakensberg on Tuesday evening (December 10).

Mr Greg Brooks was admitted to a private hospital in Pietermaritzburg following the robbery. He is in a serious but stable condition at the moment.

Trauma counselling is being provided to both the Brooks family and school staff.

Following the final festival of the year, Christmas in the Berg, the school closed for the annual Christmas holidays on Sunday, December 8, with only members of staff remaining on campus.

Police officers and local EMS services were quick to respond after the attack.

A case has been opened and is currently under investigation.

Police are searching for a silver VW Polo with registration number NB 5494.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr and Mrs Brooks,” said chairperson of the board, Mrs Ilse Marlow.
