SAPS on hunt after seizing explosives in Pongola area

Police officials said investigations were ongoing to trace the suspects.

SAPS’ Festive Season Operation is reporting success in the fight against crime in the area.
Last Thursday, a multidisciplinary operation conducted by Zululand Cluster resulted in the seizing of 23 explosives and a gas cylinder, which may have been set for use by illegal miners in the Klipwal homestead of Pongola.
A black plastic bag containing loose dagga was also recovered.
Police officials said investigations were ongoing to trace the suspects, who were not inside the house at the time of the explosives and dagga being seized.
KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombisani Jula commended the team for the recovery of the explosives and marijuana.
“We also encourage the community to continue working with us in the fight against crime, by reporting all criminal related incidents to the police.”
Lt Gen Jula added, “Anyone with information on criminal activities is encouraged to make use of the MySAPSApp, by downloading it on [Apple or Android devices]. Informers may call the SAPS Crimestop number: 086 001 0111.”
Callers can withhold their identity and all information is treated with the strictest confidence.
