Gospel show aims to have learners falling into step

The gospel show will be hosted for charity, with 200 school shoes to be donated to learners.

Vryheid’s very own gospel star, Xolani ‘Njib’loni’ Mhlongo will be hosting his first-ever gospel show for charity: the Share a Mic with Friends show.
Mhlongo made a name for himself in the South African entertainment industry as a backup singer for the late renowned gospel artist, Sfiso Ncawne, and later became one of the country’s beloved gospel artists.
Born and bred in Bhekuzulu Old Location, Mhlongo has decided to give back to those who supported him during his career.
The gospel show will be hosted for charity, with 200 school shoes to be donated to learners in need at Hluma Public Intermediate School and Bhekuzulu Primary Schools, and a vision to establish it as an annual event.
“This is my first-ever show and I just want to show my appreciation by donating to those less fortunate. As this is the first time I am doing this, I am starting with the schools within my community. Since the plan is to make this an annual event, as it grows, so will the donations. With this first show however, should we raise enough money I will be able to add school shirts and jerseys for the learners in future,” explained Mhlongo.
He was helped by teachers to identify those learners who needed school shoes most.
Mhlongo requested those who were willing to donate additional school shoes to contact him on 076 461 5328 and said a donation box for school shoes would be set up at the show.
The Share Mic with Friends gospel show will boast national and local artists.
These include Babo Ngcobo, Abathandwa, Nathi Nonkanyiso, Lindani Gumede, Siyanda, Abathandwa, Imbabazane, Siyabonga Nxumalo, Amaqhaw’ezulu, Sandile Mtambo, Senzo Khumalo, Izinceku zezulu Gospel Choir, Malusi Mbokazi, Mduduzi Vundla, Mcebo Mncwango, Sanele Nene, Thobile Gumede, and Nqobile Mbandlwa.
Mhlongo himself will grace the stage to perform songs such as Uma Ubiziwe and NjengoJobe Elingiwe.
The show takes place on November 29 at the Bhekuzulu Community Hall, from 6pm until late.

Abathandwa will perform at the show.
