‘Bleak’ Friday for woman robbed of R12 00 000

After finding the large amount of money in her possession, the robbers ejected her from the vehicle and sped away.

A 29-year-old woman was robbed of R12 300 on Black Friday, while hitchhiking from Dundee to Nquthu.

Police officials said a vehicle with two occupants stopped to give the woman a lift. When the vehicle reached the Dundee/ Nquthu turn off however, the driver instead continued straight towards Vryheid.

The two men in the vehicle then withdrew firearms and threatened the victim, asking her to empty her bag before frisking her. After finding the large amount of money in her possession and taking it, the robbers ejected her from the vehicle and sped away.

A case of robbery with a firearm has been reported, but no arrests have been made at this stage.
