ML Sultan lass is a true knockout

Thanduxolo commented boxing required stamina and quick thinking to outmanoeuvre one's opponent in the ring.

The spotlight shines brightly on M L Sultan Glencoe Secondary School’s Thanduxolo Ngobese.

Thanduxolo participated in a tournament held in Cape Town in November. After a grueling three-day round of matches, Grade 9 learner Thanduxolo was triumphant and placed highly in the tournament, and was honoured with a trophy and medal.

The victory sees her selected to participate in the SALGA Games on December 12 in Durban. After receiving her accolades, Thanduxolo commented boxing was not just fighting and aggression; it requires stamina and quick thinking to outmanoeuvre your opponent in the ring.

“I feel ecstatic over my selection for SALGA and I am highly motivated to continue to succeed in the field of boxing, a sport traditionally dominated by men. I’m determined to prove that women too pack a mean punch, and we too can cross, hook and cut as powerfully as our male counterparts.”
