The wonder of God’s creation illustrated at Icthus

On October 22, Heather Tomlinson, who hails from Ballito, visited Ichthus School to illustrate and emphasise the importance of saving water, especially in South Africa.
She did this by means of a very entertaining and informative puppet show, using different coloured buckets to illustrate how many litres of water were wasted by various daily activities.
For example, up to 80 litres are wasted on bathing, washing a car or flushing a toilet, which can use anything from eight to 10 litres of clean, drinkable water.
Mrs Tomlinson suggested ‘grey water’ be utilised for the latter and for watering the gardens.
She showed the children how to brush their teeth and wash their hands without letting the tap run and illustrated the water cycle with beautiful ‘cotton’ clouds, silver flakes for rain and so forth.
Some children were called to the stage and became part of the show, so there was interaction between the presenter and audience to help make the information have impact.
Mrs Tomlinson also gave a warning about global warming and said God made everyone responsible for looking after His creation.
The show was well worth attending, as it conveyed an important message to all.
