As the gallery quickly filled, Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) members protested outside donning T-shirts with Councillor Majola’s face on it.

The IFP proportional representation councillor was killed in a hail of bullets on the evening of August 16 this year.

Events took a turn during the court proceedings, as the legal aid attorney withdrew representation because the accused has signed Shafique Sarlie to represent him in this case.

The attorney is said to be based in Johannesburg. The case was postponed to February 23 for further investigation before it was announced that the accused’s bail application was refused.
