AbaQulusi Municipality banking detail confusion cleared

Changes to the banking details of AbaQulusi Municipality left residents uncertain as to where to deposit payments for their municipal services.

Consumers on the municipal grid may have experienced some confusion recently.

Changes to the banking details of AbaQulusi Municipality left residents uncertain as to where to deposit payments for their municipal services.

Ward 9 Councillor, Alta de Kock explained tender for a municipal banking service went out a while ago.
However, several consumers complained they had not received any formal notification of a change in the banking details.

“The old banking details are still there and the new banking details as well,” confirmed Cllr de Kock.

To add to the confusion, due to what has been described as a ‘hiccup’ between the banking service provider and the municipality, many were unable to load AbaQulusi Municipality as a beneficiary on their banking applications.
This was attributed to a computer problem arising between the two parties.

“I went to Marinda van der Berg [at the new banking service provider] and she took it up with their head office,” added Cllr de Kock. “She told me last week they have fixed [the problem] since and it has been tested; it is now working and can be loaded.”

Ward 8 Councillor, Magda Viktor added, “As far as I know, the old account will stay open for about another two months. Some people have started paying into the new account last month, but I can confirm the banking details for AbaQulusi Municipality have definitely been changed.”
