Newcastle residents may not be able to indulge in a hot shower tomorrow morning.

“In order to shed the load required by Eskom, the Newcastle Municipality will be switching off residents’ geysers from 10pm till 5am tomorrow morning,” advised communications officer, Dr Dumisani Thabethe.

Dr Thabethe added that it is very likely that load-shedding will continue tomorrow. However, this will be confirmed in due course.

“Our emergency levels are now at critically low levels, and need to be replenished overnight in order to meet tomorrow’s forecasted demand in electricity,” reads a press release issued by Eskom. “That said, the risk of load-shedding for tomorrow remains high if generating units do not return overnight as scheduled.”
