Afriforum looks to uplift Vryheid ‘block by block’

AfriForum has invited residents to become part of the #OnsDorp (#OurTown) project

AfriForum has invited residents to become part of the #OnsDorp (#OurTown) project, by adopting a hands-on approach to improve their neighbourhoods and creating a positive mindset by getting involved.
Provincial Coordinator for AfriForum, Eugene van Aswegen explained, “There are always different groups within communities. There is a group of people who refuse to admit there is a problem, then there is a group who will complain about the problem. Then there is a group of people who will acknowledge the problem and wants to make a change. We need those people – the ones who are willing to be part of the solution – to join us in making this project a success.” The project aspires to focus on one neighbourhood at a time, creating a sustainable solution block by block, which will eventually see a remarkable improvement throughout Vryheid. Residents are invited to meet at the Paddadam gate on November 9, to be a part of this constructive initiative. AfriForum will supply the necessary equipment which will be used to clean up the area, paint faded road markings, repair road signs, repaint fire hydrants and replace street signs where necessary. The first neighbourhood on the agenda is the north-west section of Vryheid, between Church Street and Korte Smal Street, from Emmett Street down to Alberta Crescent. Anyone who wishes to get involved can contact Flip Oosthuizen on 081 462 3221.
