Arrest made in Mthembeni Majola’s murder
A 26-year-old male said to be from Weenen has been arrested and appeared in court earlier today
Two months and two weeks later and a breakthrough has been made in IFP proportional representation councillor Mthembeni Majola’s murder case.

Ayanda Siyanda Mshengu Mvelase (26) appeared in the Estcourt Magistrates’ Court this afternoon.
He is facing charges of murder and attempted murder.
It is believed that the suspect was the hitman behind Majola’s death as well as one of the other occupants who were in the vehicle Mr Majola drove on that fatal night.
It was revealed that he has an ongoing case in Johannesburg, the next court appearance for this will be November 5.
Mr Majola sustained multiple gunshot wounds in a hail of bullets and was declared dead on the scene on August 16.
The 26-year-old suspect will reappear before Estcourt Magistrates’ Court on November 12 for a possible bail application.
Following, lengthy back and forth talks about where the suspect will be detained, the court decided that he will be kept in custody in Ladysmith.
