One killed in horror collision on the R34

The woman who died as a result of the crash is reported to have been the driver of the light motor vehicle, and it was stated she passed away before emergency services arrived at the scene.

A woman was killed in a tragic crash along the R34 Melmoth Road on Sunday morning, approximately 75 kilometres from Vryheid.
According to a report from KwaZulu Private Ambulance, which dispatched a team to the scene at approximately 11.30am, the light motor vehicle the deceased was travelling in had collided with a truck and left behind a scene of absolute carnage.
This prompted emergency services to issue a warning to motorists, to exercise extreme caution while the scene was being cleared.

Officials reported a light motor vehicle collided with this truck.

“Paramedics rapidly assessed the scene and found there were two occupants in the car and in the truck,” reported Craig Botha of KwaZulu Private Ambulance. “One occupant from the truck sustained serious injuries.”
It was also established that one of the occupants of the light motor vehicle had sustained serious injuries. Both patients were stabilised at the scene, before being transported to hospital for further treatment. It is believed that the fourth patient sustained only minor injuries.
