Treverton grade 10s conquer the ‘Giant’

Tired but exhilarated, the learners were welcomed back to school

The aim of ‘the Giant’ hike is to induct the Grade 10s into their senior phase at Treverton through a journey of spiritual, physical and mental discovery.

They come to grips with leadership, where accountability and repercussions for their actions are key elements.
A crucial way of achieving this is to ensure that the four groups remain separate for as much of the journey as possible.

The learners being welcomed back to school.

In doing so, the groups determine their identity and retain an inner focus rather than being distracted by the inevitable competition with another group. They are able to work through their own challenges and this allows for growth.

By taking the groups through the new Kamberg section of the route, the school was able to separate them for longer periods of time.
