Free weekly parkrun:

Work out on a Saturday morning in a beautiful place, while meeting new people. The Grey Goose parkrun is a free, weekly and volunteer-led five kilometre run/ walk, which takes place from 8am at the Grey Goose Game Lodge. Contact Wonda Wilson on 082 572 3336 for details.

Newcastle Model Aircraft Club:

October 17 to 19 – The Newcastle Model Aircraft Club is hosting the fly-in of the Rand Model Aircraft Club. This will take pace at the Newcastle Airport from 9am to the afternoon, weather permitting. The club welcomes anyone to come and watch the awesome RC jets and planes, flown by some of the best RC pilots. Nofta’s National Week of the Aged function:

October 19 – Nofta will celebrate its annual National Week of the Aged at the Nofta Service Centre at 5pm. There will be a live band, guest artists and plenty of entertainment. A sumptuous five course meal will be provided. Nofta members attend free of charge, non members pay R100 per adult and children under 12 pay R50. Elizma Theron at Newcastle Corner:

October 19 – Elizma Theron and local artists will perform at Newcastle Corner from 10am to 3pm, in support of Morester Child and Youth Care Centre. Entrance fee is any form of donation towards Morester. Bring your own chairs and gazebo and join in this fun-filled day with Elizma, Anton Fitchat, Belinda Ellor, Yolandi Apple, Melandie, Nadia Coetzee and Chris van Tonder.

Mediclinic Emoji Fun Run:

October 19 – This will take place from 10am at the Kintsugi Wellness Centre at Mediclinic Newcastle.

#BokFever:

October 20 – Support the Springboks this weekend as South Africa takes on Japan. Why not join fellow supporters at the official #BokPub in Newcastle? Don your Springbok shirt and go to Needles Bar (corner of HJ van Eck and Allen Street) to cheer on our team. Big screen rugby will be aired in Thatchers. There will be a children’s day care, a jumping castle and face painting. A braai buffet will be available at R85 per person and kiddie’s steak rolls will be available at R25. Booking for the braai buffet is essential – call 034 318 1888 or 079 321 6006. However, you do not have to book the braai to enjoy the game on the electronic big screen. There will be lots of prizes up for grabs at the event!

Jai Mata Di:

October 20 – The Sat-Chit-Ananda Temple Society of Newcastle invites the community to participate in the glorification of the Divine Mother. This will take place at 164 Panorama Drive from 8.30am to 1pm. All are welcome and maha prasadham will be served. The officiating priest is Pundit Yogaysh. Call R.S. October 19 – A Club Sponsored IPS competition will take place.

Kilbarchan Golf Club

October 19 – The club will host its Fedauto Better Ball competition on the day.
