Members of the Newcastle K9 Unit; Warrant Officer Dlomo, Sergeant Thusi, Constables Nkabinde and Ngcobo acted on information on October 6, about a vehicle transporting stolen tower batteries en route to Gauteng along the R34.
The information led to the arrest of one suspect, and the recovery of 24 tower batteries.
On October 11, members also arrested a suspect at Newcastle Taxi City, and a total of 44 mandrax tablets was recovered.
