Eight killed in collision near Ladysmith

One of the vehicles burst into flame as a result of the impact.

Eight people, including two children, were killed in collision just outside Ladysmith late on Saturday night.

The Ladysmith Gazette reports two vehicles collided head-on on a bend and one of the vehicles burst into flame as a result of the impact. Initial reports indicate the victims include a Newcastle family, although this is yet to be confirmed.

Emergency services responded to the collision, including Ladysmith Public Safety, the Ladysmith Fire Brigade, SAPS, the Road Traffic Inspectorate, KZN EMS (KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Medical Services) and State mortuary services.

The Newcastle Advertiser extends its condolences to the families of the deceased.
