Residents to take note of message from uThukela Water

Residents are advised to contact the municipal customer care centres to report all water related problems within the municipality town areas.

uThukela Water has issued the following notice:

The public are very confused regarding the responsibilities for, and where to report various water related problems which occur within the municipal town areas.

The confusion stems from uThukela Water (Pty) Ltd being the BULK water services provider to the municipalities of Newcastle, Umzinyathi and Amajuba district municipalities, and the municipalities themselves being the supplier of potable water to their customers.

uThukela Water is responsible for extracting the raw water from various water sources, treating the water through its water treatment plants and supplying a potable bulk water supply to designated municipal controlled reticulation water reservoirs, from which reservoirs the municipalities, through their own reticulation networks, are responsible for supplying the potable water to their customers, and to bill them accordingly.

Residents are advised to take note of this and contact the municipal customer care centres to report all water related problems within the municipality town areas.
