Cost saving measures have spared our expenses
I read the illuminating cost saving article with great interest and discovered there were valid suggestions.

Madam –
I read the illuminating cost saving article with great interest and discovered there were valid suggestions.
Our geyser is wall mounted externally and although it is insulated in manufacture, we have covered it with a geyser blanket. All exterior water pipes are contained within foam lagging.
All year, the geyser is switched on for an hour and half twice a day.
We invested in a dishwasher, as although it does heat the water for the wash, less water is used as opposed to washing repeatedly in the sink.
As a further saving on costs, we do not pay for municipal water but are piped to our borehole.
Our electricity usage is in the region of 450 kW per month.
Although the initial costs are high, our next step is is to install solar panels.
