Bikers gear up for a good cause

Motorcycle club, Jeddak Riders MCC held a charity run campaign on September 14 at Phumula Nathi Motel.

Riders from all over the country gathered in Newcastle for a weekend dedicated to giving back.

On Saturday, the riders visited Nil Desperandum on Bird Street and Ekhayalami Care Centre in Madadeni, to donate food parcels and cleaning goods.

Both the homes take care of physically challenged people. Jeddak Riders MCC founder, Sifiso Masondo said the purpose of the event was to uplift the community:

“By doing the charity run, we wanted to promote the spirit of ‘Ubuntu’, in saying we are all connected and we need to take care of each other as a community, more especially those who can’t take care of themselves and are in need. With all our assistance, we can make the physically disabled feel extra special and let them know they are not excluded. We felt it’s our duty as a club to give back to those who are less fortunate.”

Ekhayalami Care Centre founder, Mrs Cebekhulu said she was grateful for the riders’ gesture of kindness: “Such acts of kindness make feel really emotional because I can see that God listens to our prayers. We are sincerely grateful for everything and hope you are blessed with even more.”

The main event took place at Phumula Nathi Motel, where riders demonstrated their best riding skills, with live entertainment.
