Development golfers pitch and putt

They were not phased by the hot weather on Sunday, making sure they performed at the best of their capabilities.

In preparations for the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) KZN Games in December, the Department of Sport and Recreation in the Amajuba District held its Junior Development competition at the Newcastle Golf Club on September 15.

Young enthusiastic golfers represented different schools in the district, and showcased their best skills.

They were not phased by the hot weather on Sunday, making sure they performed at the best of their capabilities.

Golf Development Coach, Phumlani Mbhele said the youngsters showcased incredible talent:

“It’s been a great day and the young golfers are really putting in the work, which shows incredible dedication. They are hardworking and it’s good to see the talent here in the district.”

Meanwhile on Saturday, the Club Sponsored Competition (IPS) results were as follows:

1. Owen van Aarde (43 points)
2. Johan Jonker (41 points)
3. Alan Amos (39 points onco)
4. Elred Darvall (39 points onco)
5. Dries Els (37 points).
