Samaritan police officers go beyond the call of duty

Sergeant Dubazane and Constable Hadebe made sure the tyre got changed and that the woman was mobile and safely on her way again

Two Bergville police officers went beyond the call of duty recently by being Good Samaritans to a Bergville woman who had a flat tyre.

This is a dreaded experience for a lady travelling alone. The punctured tyre forced her to stop in an area that is known as a notorious hitchhikers spot. On her knees in a dress, she attempted to remove the spare wheel.

A kind gentleman stopped, but was also not much help.

The situation changed when Sergeant Dubazane and Constable Hadebe came along. The duo made sure the tyre got changed and that the woman was mobile and safely on her way again.

A request was made for their photo to be taken and it was posted on her Facebook page. The story went viral.

The officers were commended by Acting Uthukela Cluster Commander Brigadier Bantham for caring for the community, for being vigilant and for serving with dignity.
