Police need your help to track down home invasion suspects

Police urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information pertaining to the case to please come forward

No arrests have been made after the home invasion that took place in Tulip Street on Saturday, July 27.

In the early hours of that Saturday morning, a 66-year-old mother and wife was awoken by her 31-year-old son, who told her he had heard noises outside and had seen the outside light flickering, which led him to believe that someone was tampering with it.

She told him to go back to bed, and that she would stay awake and keep an eye on the house. Switching on the kitchen and bathroom lights, she didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. However, a few minutes later, she heard voices and noises outside… She got up again and so did her son. They both heard banging on the lounge door as if someone was trying to break the door down.

The son phoned neighbours for help, and then the mother and son went to wake the husband / father. The 63-year-old husband flew out of bed and reached for his firearm. While he was busy loading the gun, three robbers gained access into the house using crowbars. They assaulted all three family members with their crowbars, also grabbing the father’s firearm and pistol-whipping him with it.

The son’s head was split open; the mother was hit in the face; and the father was badly assaulted numerous times, leaving him in a pool of blood on his bed. The house was ransacked by the robbers.

The 66-year-old mother and wife exclaimed at the time that, “It was a nightmare!”

According to police, they are still investigating the case. Police request anyone who might have witnessed the incident or has information concerning the suspects to come forward.
