There was stiff competition, with 29 schools participating in the event which was hosted on August 30.

Second place winners – the Meadowsweet School team of Nonsikelelo Khumalo and Lusanda Kefu.

The objective of the day was for Mobile Science Laboratory Programme schools to take part in a challenging series of practical tasks, while also exposing the learners to the fun side of physical science.

Each school submitted a team of their top two Grade 11 Science students.  The Science & Technology Centre from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) ran a “walk the graph” challenge and offered insight to Science teachers on other practical tasks.

Other challenges included making slime and completing an Ohms Law experiment.  From the 29 participating schools, Estcourt Senior Secondary succeeded through all the challenges.

Second place went to Meadowsweet School in Winterton.  The trophies were kindly sponsored by N3TC Toll Concession.  The lucky draw prizes were provided by UKZN as well as Varsity College in Pietermaritzburg.
