Police swiftly arrest suspected business robbers in Ladysmith CBD

4 men held up the staff at gunpoint before making off with cell-phones, cash, clothing and jewellery

Four suspects were arrested in Ladysmith on Thursday (September 12) and will face charges of robbery, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and possession of stolen property.

This after a department store was robbed in Harrismith the same day. Four men held up the staff at gunpoint before making off with cell-phones, cash, clothing and jewellery.

Police officers from various units in Ladysmith reacted to a call from Harrismith police with regards to the robbery.

A description of the suspects and the getaway vehicle was provided, and the officers began monitoring all entry and exit routes in Ladysmith. It wasn’t long before a vehicle fitting the description was spotted and intercepted while entering the Ladysmith CBD. The vehicle was searched and two unlicensed firearms with ammunition, stolen cell-phones and other items were seized.

Four suspects, between the age of 19 and 28, were arrested and charged for being in illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, as well as possession of property suspected to be stolen.
