Vryheid challenged to spread the gospel

"We challenge the whole of South Africa to join in and challenge the Springboks to display John 3:16 in the upcoming World Cup, in a visible way to help spread the gospel to the whole world."

The AGS Church in Vryheid has envisioned a challenge for the community, which combines support for the Springbok rugby team and faith.

John 3:16 (chapter 3, verse 16 of the Gospel of John of the New Testament) is one of the most widely quoted verses of the Bible, and is regarded by many as the most concise expression of the Christian faith.

In the King James version, the verse reads: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

The verse has become extremely popular at sporting events across the globe – as a platform to spread the Gospel – and with this in mind, the AGS congregation has launched the John 3:16 campaign in Vryheid.

Its aim is to encourage the Springbok rugby team to display John 3:16 in the upcoming Rugby World Cup.

Congregation members will take to the Vryheid High School rugby field on Utrecht Street on September 14 at 2pm, in a massive effort to create a human display video to be broadcast far and wide to drive a message home.

“We challenge the whole of South Africa to join in and challenge the Springboks to display John 3:16 in the upcoming World Cup, in a visible way to help spread the gospel to the whole world.”

Entry into the get-together is free.

“Come as you are; just have John 3:16 written on your arm. Go big with any crosses, flags, face paint – anything that represents John 3:16.”
