Local lass makes it big on Idols SA

When she was just 3 years old, she stood up at a wedding ceremony and started singing

Local singing sensation Mmangaliso Gumbi from Watersmeet in Ladysmith is currently making waves around the country as part of Idols SA.

The 23-year-old has made the top 17 and now needs your votes to make it into the top 10.

She has a passion for music and when she was just three years old, she stood up at a wedding ceremony and started singing. Her favourite genre of music is Afro Soul, Jazz and Gospel, which she feels emotionally connected to.

Her favourite singer is India Arie and her favorite song ‘I Want To Dance With Somebody’ by Whitney Houston.

Through music, Mmangaliso wants to get herself on as many platforms as possible and would like to someday even teach music to others.

She says, “I believe in Jesus Christ and I believe that singing is my calling.”
