Suspected car thieves brought to a swift halt

The police arrested two men in Paulpietersburg for possession of stolen items and later found the vehicle they were travelling in was also stolen.

Police operations in the Paulpietersburg area led to five arrests and the recovery of stolen vehicles and weapons.

This operation was aimed at eradicating criminal activity in the policing precinct and was conducted by local police officers, together with the Ulundi Public Order Police (POP) Unit and the Vryheid K9 Unit.
Last Thursday morning, police intercepted suspects traveling on the R33.
Two men – aged 32 and 40 – were arrested and the police officials found a revolver, eight rounds of ammunition, a SAPS bulletproof vest, a SAPS jacket, an empty bullet cartridge and a tonfa/baton in the vehicle.

Police later discovered the vehicle itself was reported stolen.
The two suspects were taken into custody and charged for the possession of suspected stolen property, and the 32-year-old was also charged for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
