Learning outdoors for St Gregory grade fives

Spending time outdoors and learning formed part of this adventurous outing

St Gregory Primary School’s Grade 5 learners had an adventurous day outside of the classroom on August 7.

Having learnt about the San people throughout the first half of the academic year, the learners were taken on an educational hike up to the Main Caves Museum at Giants Castle to view the rock paintings and learn more about these historic times.

The hike also allowed the children to experience nature and its sounds, and see the different flora and fauna in the area, with sightings of baboon and many birds.

River formations and the different types of rock were also topics of discussion along the way, as the scenic trail led them along the river.
