The dire state of sewage leaks festers in Newcastle’s CBD

Paterson Street park has become the latest 'victim' of allegedly poor service delivery.

Residents in Newcastle have had numerous complaints about sewage leaks in residential areas.

In Aviary Hill, there were eight burst pipes and two failing water valves within the last three weeks.

The complaints have escalated further, as the park on Paterson Street has also been badly affected.

Sanitary items, used condoms and raw sewage ,witnessed by Newcastle Advertiser journalists today (August 22) at Paterson Street Park, shows the alleged debilitating lack of service delivery affecting the town.

Many residents have claimed they have reported leaks several times at the municipality, but nothing has been seen done to alleviate the situation.

This is developing story and the Newcastle Municipality will be contacted again for comment.
