A three year-old’s life came to a horrible end last weekend, in what has been described as a ‘cruel assault’ in the Mahlabathini area.

It is reported the child was spending the weekend with her aunt and five cousins in the Kwamswane Reserve, and the aunt’s boyfriend arrived on Sunday to escort them back to their home in Khulani Reserve.
The issue is said to have arisen when the child said she was tired from the long walk.

The aunt’s boyfriend, who is said to have been leading the children at the time, is believed to have become frustrated and struck the child, going as far as to throw her into the air and let her fall to the ground multiple times. After a few heavy falls, the child lay motionless on the ground.
She was taken to Wela Clinic where she was pronounced dead, and a case of murder is currently being investigated by SAPS.
