Illegal firearms seized in Dannhauser area

SAPS officials across KZN are intensifying operations against illegal firearms and their possession.

Three Dannhauser men have been arrested for the possession of illegal firearms and ammunition.

“The men were arrested during a Province-wide sweep, in intensified efforts to remove illegal firearms and ammunition from our streets,” said SAPS spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala.

First, a 20-year-old Rutland man was arrested after he was found in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol.

Later, a man (30) was taken into custody after he was found in possession of 3 gas guns.

A 3rd suspect was arrested in the Poona area after he was found in possession of ammunition without required permits.

All 3 are expected to appear in the Dannhauser Magistrate’s Court soon.

“Illegal firearms are 1 of the contributors to violent crimes in the province and police officer across KZN have been embarking on operations to disarm criminals, ” concluded Captain Gwala.
