Ratepayers Association ‘angry’ after meeting with Administrator is postponed

"If nothing tangible is done, we escalate it to national"

Ratepayers Association is being cautiously optimistic about its committee’s first meeting with municipal administrator Dumisani Vilakazi.

After months of trying to secure a meeting with the administrator, the association received word last week that a meeting had been confirmed for 8.30am on August 6 in council chambers, however this meeting was postponed on the morning, while the committee was made to wait for about 20 minutes.

“The Administrator had a death in his family and we will be notified of a future date for the meeting. Members were angry, they felt we could’ve been informed earlier, instead of making us wait,” said Mr Osman on Tuesday morning.

In anticipation of Tuesday morning’s scheduled meeting, Ratepayers Association chairman Mahomed Ally Osman called an urgent meeting for members on Monday at 6.15pm at Forderville Primary School to discuss questions that would be posed to Mr Vilakazi.
