The school is grateful to the parents who responded with enthusiasm.  Several boxes of toys were collected.  This special day also ended up being a wonderful learning experience for a few of the Grade 7 monitors who handed out the toys.

Mrs Naidoo, nursing staff, moms and babies, patients and learners all happy to pose for the camera.

The staff and learners began the journey at the Physiotherapy Department, where a Cerebral Palsy Clinic was in action.  The learners handed out suitable toys to the little children who were warmly tucked up under blankets, waiting for their physiotherapy sessions.

Next they took a long walk over to the Paediatric Ward, where a variety of toys were handed out to sick patients.
Many even managed little smiles of appreciation.

Besides contributing a service to the community, Drakensview Primary School learners experienced what it was like to “give”.

Each one of the Grade 7s went home a more mature person.  It was humbling for all to be involved in this 67 minutes for Mandela.
