Dundee SPCA needs a hero

At the end of the day, being an Inspector is more than a job, it's a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of animals.

The Dundee and District SPCA needs a hero now more than ever, as the organisation is on the lookout for an Inspector or Trainee Inspector.

Are you an animal lover, who has experience working with animals and completed matric? Do you have computer and administration skills? Do you have a clean police record and possess a valid driver’s license? Can you speak English, Zulu and Afrikaans, and have sober habits? If you answered yes to all of the above, you may be just what the SPCA is looking for.

Serving as an Inspector or Trainee Inspector is no easy feat. It’s a job which requires total commitment and dedication. You have to be able to work alone, as well as within a team. You also need good communication skills and leaderships qualities, as well as the willingness to work overtime, stand-by and on weekends.

There will be good days (making a difference in the life of an animal) and bad days (heartbreaking cases of abuse and neglect). At times you have to be gentle and understanding, and at other times when you have to lay down the law. There’s also a test involved, as you need to attend the NSPCA’s Inspector course and qualify.

At the end of the day, being an Inspector is more than a job, it’s a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of animals.

Do you have what it takes? If so, send through a one-page CV, short motivational letter and supporting documentation to spcadundeekzn@gmail.com. The closing date for applications is July 19. Applicants not contacted within 2 weeks of the closing date, can consider their application as unsuccessful.
