Dundee Technology Centre launches Health Hub

The Health Hub is already operating three days a week, and has a professional nurse assigned to the campus by the Department of Health.

The Dundee Technology Centre (DTC) recently held an induction for trimester two engineering students, at the campus cafeteria.

New students were informed about the who’s who of the campus, and introduced to those ready to assist. DTC Campus Manager, Vusi Mthembu welcomed the students, re-assuring them they had made the right choice by enrolling with Majuba TVET College.

“At Majuba TVET College, we always motivate our students to complete their studies within the set time period,” stated Mr Mthembu.

Students listen to relevant information, supplied by the campus during the induction.

He added inductions helped with social integration for full-time students, establishing peer support networks, and creating awareness about applied tutorial systems.

“If you dream bigger, you will do bigger things.”

The DTC Campus also introduced new students to Health Hub, a new clinic which will be officially launched soon. The Health Hub is already operating three days a week, and has a professional nurse assigned to the campus by the Department of Health (DoH), to offer services including family planning, HIV/AIDS testing, counselling, pap smears, tuberculosis screening and blood pressure testing.

Vusi Mthembu, Acting Campus Manager, undergoes a routine check-up.

DTC also partnered with LoveLife and HEAids on this project. Overall, the induction proved to be a success, as the students were impressed with the health services they can access at the campus.
