Suspect in fatal shooting to appear in court soon

He has not been sentenced yet

The suspect who was arrested after a shooting in Bergville on May 9 has not been sentenced yet and will appear in court soon.

The man was arrested shortly after the fatal shooting due to the quick thinking of Bergville station commander Lieutenant Colonel Ramlagan. The arrest was made in Ladysmith.

It is alleged that the shooting followed a heated argument between a 46-year-old man and the suspect.

The deceased sustained several gunshot wounds.

The suspect fled the scene and made his way to Ladysmith.

Lt Col Ramlagan wasted no time in notifying the Ladysmith K9 Unit, as well as Ladysmith Visible Policing officers. The proactive station commander immediately made her way to Ladysmith to oversee the arrest.

The man was nabbed at a local hitchhiking spot after exiting a taxi destined for Johannesburg.
