New infrastructure developments for local communities

Millions have been paid towards these all new developments

Within the next six months, Colita residents will see changes in the infrastructure.

An all-new bridge will be ready for use. On June 4, Ward Councillor Edith Lite accompanied by Mayor Jabulile Mbele hosted a meeting at the Colita Hall to introduce the contractors that have been appointed.

The bridge will act as a link between the community and Estcourt Primary School allowing for safety and convenience for the learners.  The Mayor introduced Silo Construction South Africa and Siphulwazi Engineers as responsible service providers for the Colita Bridge.

The bridge is set to be 24 meters long, 2.5 meters wide and is made of galvanized steel.  A pedestrian bridge with a 1.2 meter wide walkway, on two reinforced concrete abutments will also be included.

The cost has come to just over R4 million and is expected to be complete after six months. Councillor Lite urged community members to work hand-in-hand with the appointed contractors.

This project will bring job creation in the area. The following day, the Mayor visited the Ward 11 residents at the Tsonga Community Hall, with the purpose of introducing the contractors responsible for the Nsonge gravel road.

According to Mrs Mbele, the Nsonge gravel road will be a 4km long and six meter wide gravel road with associated drainage concrete pipes and brick headwalls, as well as wing walls.

The project is going to take three months to complete. It will cost just over R 4, 9 million.  Skova Trading Projects, JV Mageja and Gendu Consulting are the responsible implementing agents for the project.
