There’s a saying which goes, ‘Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad.’ Steven Brown is a true dad, and it’s not just to his children, but to hundreds of others as well.

A father of four, Steven has been coaching wrestling for the past 35 years and rugby for the past 20 years. During that time, he has inspired and mentored many youngsters. Many of them have gone on to win accolades in their respective sports and it’s always a proud moment for Steven when he sees their achievements.

When asked what qualities make a good leader, Steven said that patience was most important, highlighting at how at all children don’t develop and learn at the same pace. He also described the rewards of that patience as the best part of being a father.

“When you take something raw and mould it into something special, you can see what you’ve achieved. And that’s the best feeling ever.”

Steven also highlighted some of the attributes which he feels makes a good father.

“There comes a stage where you have to put the children first. It’s about their dreams now, not yours. I have achieved everything I’ve wanted to in sport so now I focus on my children.

I am as proud of their achievements as I was of mine before.”
