This time was used to engage in praying for spiritual renewal in the church and community as well as ponder on scripture readings themed ‘Season of Renewal.’
“On Sunday to end the week of prayer, an evening service was held were we lit candles,” explained Father Madoda Khumalo.
Congregants braved the cold, and sang worship songs as the candle lighting ceremony took place. Pentecost was not the only reason for celebration, Sunday also marked Father Khumalo’s eighth year with St Matthew’s.
After singing happy birthday, Father Khumalo urged attendees to continue reciting the Season of Renewal prayers.
The evening service was capped off with warm beverages, snacks and socialising.ALSO READ: LENT: A call for sacred assembly
