Rape of little boys on the rise in Zululand

The Mondlo Social Crime Unit says the number of cases of little boys being raped is currently the highest they have ever seen.

The Mondlo Social Crime Unit says the rape of young boys is on the increase in Zululand.
Members of the unit highlighted the appalling rise in cases of rape perpetrated against children, particularly boys, during its Child Protection Week campaign this week.

“This is a topic that still needs a lot of attention.”

“The number of cases of little boys being raped is currently the highest we have ever seen. Parents need to really be careful with their children. No child is ‘safe’ from sexual abuse,” explained Chairperson of the unit, Bonginkosi Ntuli.

Ntuli said the most difficult part about dealing with sexual abuse cases involving young boys, is their reluctance to report the matter to their parents or to authorities.
