Endumeni Municipality vows to upgrade road network

Roads in the Avon Industrial area have deteriorated so badly, many business owners say they 'cannot carry on'

Endumeni Municipality’s Acting Technical Manager, Mzwandile Ntanzi  says he is doing all he can to patch problem roads, despite limited resources.

Roads in the Avon Industrial area have deteriorated so badly, many business owners say they ‘cannot carry on’. This is due to the impact the rutted and potholed roads of Van Eck, Cable and Avon Streets have reportedly had.

Complaints, which were channelled to the Courier and Councillor, Anthon Raubenheimer, led to an on-site meeting last week between Ntanzi and his senior staff, FC Bester of the Endumeni Residents Association, the Courier and the businessmen who had laid the complaints.

Mr Ntanzi agreed the state of the roads in the industrial area is ‘desperate’ and immediately committed his staff to attending to the potholes on Avon Street. He added the municipality was set to purchase a new grader, which would be sent out as soon as possible to Van Eck Street, in a bid to make the road usable.

“It is good to know we have responsive officials in our Technical Services Department, and we look forward to working with them to ensure our town improves, and in that way we can hopefully attract new investment to the industrial area,” concluded Cllr Raubenheimer.
